Ana García is heading to Broadway. A musical adaptation of “Real Women Have Curves,” the 2002 coming-of-age pic about a Mexican-American teen, is in the works from “Waitress” producers Fran and Barry Weissler. “The Waiting Room” playwright and “Girl, Interrupted” screenwriter Lisa Loomer is adapting the screenplay for the stage, with brother and sister duo Jesse & Joy penning the music and lyrics. Sergio Trujillo (“Flashdance the Musical”) will direct. The “show would likely be the first Broadway musical with a Latine director, bookwriter, lyricist, and composer,” per Broadway World.
