The Seattle Seahawks announced the signing of DE Rasheem Green, the team’s third round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, on Wednesday. Green was the final member of the Seahawks’ 2018 draft class who remained unsigned and now Seattle has all nine selections under contract.

Green was selected with the 79th overall pick, which was the Arizona Cardinals’ original third round selection. The four-year deal is worth just over $3.3 million in total value and will pay Green $708k as a rookie, according to estimates from Over the Cap.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive lineman surprised some by declaring for the draft this past spring at just 20 years old at the time. However, after being miscast as a defensive tackle at USC, it made sense for Green to leave for a better situation in the NFL.

As a rookie, Green will be expected to become a part of the pass rush rotation, mainly as a 5-technique on the edge and bringing the ability to reduce inside in certain packages. He’ll join Jacob Martin, Tom Johnson and Shamar Stephen as new additions to a defensive front that is in transition.

The Seahawks mandatory minicamp ended last week, ending offseason workouts, and the team will now have over a month off from team activities before training camp begins on July 26.
