When it comes to wine, most people don’t think much further beyond what it costs and how it tastes But, just like any agricultural product, there is a whole system behind every glass you pour, and it doesn’t always put workers’ safety, health, and humanity at the forefront—especially during the labor-demanding harvest season. At Offset Bottle Shop, opened in March near the Olympic Sculpture Park, you can sip without worry, as the vinos on off er have been thoroughly vetted.
“Offset Bottle Shop is an independent, family-owned wine shop featuring small-producer, organic, and biodynamic wines,” notes owner Eric Gonzalez Alfaro, a first-generation Mexican American with decades of leadership experience in advocacy and public policy. “We focus on bottles that uplift underrepresented winemakers and reflect responsible farming and labor practices.”
With wines sourced regionally—and from around the world—Offset is a promising bet if you’re looking for something unique, or just want to learn more about natural wine. In addition to a wine club, the shop plans to hold a speaker series focused on topics related to environmental issues, civil liberties, and public policy, with all proceeds going toward its goal of donating $25,000 in 2026 to organizations supporting social and environmental justice.
