Sometimes, you just have to tip your hat and applaud a great play, even if it happens against your favorite team.
As we trudge through the dullest part of the NFL offseason, let’s take a trip down memory lane and discuss some of the best plays we’ve seen against the Seahawks. This can include any game you’ve ever watched live, and range from offense to defense to special teams.
My number one is an oldie but a goodie, and it comes courtesy of San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Lloyd. For someone who had a mostly unremarkable career, Lloyd managed some of the most amazing grabs humanly possible. Think of him as a part-time Odell Beckham Jr. The first clip you’ll see in this video is from the 2003 Seahawks-49ers game in Week 17. It honestly doesn’t even look possible to tip this to yourself with one hand while getting both feet down and in bounds.
Seattle did win this one 24-17, assuring themselves of their first 10-win season under Mike Holmgren.
Runner-up in the catch department is Stevie Johnson’s one-handed snag of this highly inaccurate Ryan Fitzpatrick throw in the 2012 game against the Buffalo Bills. Richard Sherman could do absolutely nothing about this beauty, although the Seahawks would have the last laugh, winning 51-17.
Of all of the best quarterback-related plays against Seattle, I have to go with Tony Romo avoiding Bruce Irvin sacking him on a critical 3rd and 20, scrambling and throwing an absolutely perfect pass to Terence Williams (who himself should be lauded for a great catch) to extend the Dallas Cowboys’ drive and eventually send them to a shock 30-23 win over the Seahawks at CenturyLink Field.
Now it’s your turn. This could either be fun or quite painful, but “quite painful” also describes us waiting for the regular season to start.
