Since mid-2025, GeoComply has been quietly beta testing its latest innovation.
The Vancouver-based digital identity platform describes this month’s launch, DeviceGuard, as a “device intelligence model.”
“A device can tell you anything about itself,” explains chief technology officer Steven Vo. “Our job, for the past fourteen years, has been to know what’s actually true.”
DeviceGuard goes beyond a device fingerprint by detecting manipulation and anchoring to where a device physically sits on earth, according to a statement, functioning across both native applications and web browsers while supporting multiple industries from iGaming and streaming to fintech and social networking.
People trying to beat a geo-location may attempt to attack a device through resetting, rooting, and jailbreaking to manipulate the signals it sends. DeviceGuard was built for these situations, learning from more than 300 million devices and 2.5 billion signals a month.
The technology gives a fraud team “over a decade of context on whether a device has been wiped, faked, or seen before under another name,” Vo says.
This year, GeoComply was recognized as the “Financial Transaction Security Platform of the Year” for the second year in a row from FinTech Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organization that recognizes companies and technologies across the global market.
Longstanding partnerships held by GeoComply include one with venerable Las Vegas icon Caesars Entertainment and another with FanDuel.
In April, GeoComply laid off dozens of employees, a move which the firm described as part of a “deliberate strategic evolution.”
The firm was founded in Vancouver in 2011 by Anna Sainsbury and David Briggs.
