Mercer Islanders, Eastsiders and Seattle-area drivers will be affected by Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) lane and on-ramp closures on Interstate 90 overnight on Nov. 6.

While WSDOT crews perform scheduled maintenance, all eastbound I-90 lanes and on-ramps will be shuttered during that juncture and will impact drivers travelling between Seattle and Mercer Island, notes the WSDOT website.

According to the city of Mercer Island, WSDOT will begin closing lanes at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 and all lanes will be closed at 10 p.m. that night. WSDOT will reopen all lanes by 6 a.m. on Nov. 7.

WSDOT notes that the following closures are planned during that time frame:

* All lanes of eastbound I-90 from Rainier Avenue South (milepost 3) to 77th Avenue Southeast (milepost 6).

* The eastbound I-90 on-ramps from northbound and southbound I-5.

* The eastbound I-90 on-ramps from northbound and southbound Rainier Avenue South.

WSDOT’s tunnel maintenance crews’ work during the closure will be focused on fire systems testing, light repairs, road sweeping and drain cleaning.

“WSDOT keeps people, businesses and the economy moving by operating and improving the state’s transportation systems,” reads the agency’s website.
