Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg turned himself in Thursday after a grand jury in Manhattan indicted the CFO and the organization long managed by former President Donald Trump, a person familiar with the matter told USA TODAY.

The specific charges are expected to be unsealed later Thursday.

Weisselberg is expected to face charges for allegedly failing to pay taxes on fringe benefits from the company, said the source who is not authorized to comment publicly on the matter.

“Mr. Weisselberg intends to plead not guilty and intends to fight these charges in court,” attorney Bryan Skarlatos said in a written statement Thursday.

The charges are part of a long-running inquiry headed by the Manhattan district attorney

Ewan McGregor’s 20 best movie performances – ranked!

20. Moulin Rouge! (2001)

Lip-syncing in Dennis Potter’s 1993 musical drama Lipstick on Your Collar was all very well. Crooning for real opposite Nicole Kidman, McGregor looks and sounds strained to say the least. But then his entire floundering performance represents a mere fender bump in Baz Luhrmann’s car crash of a musical. “His idea of conveying high emotion is to let his mouth hang wide open,” noted the critic Anthony Quinn.

19. Little Voice (1998)

Reunited with his Brassed Off director, Mark Herman, for this adaptation of Jim Cartwright’s play The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, McGregor has the least interesting role as a telephone engineer smitten with a timid

President Joe Biden visits the site of the collapsed condo in Surfside, Florida, Thursday. Biden is in Florida in part to thank first responders and others involved in looking for survivors. He will also “meet with the families who have been forced to endure this terrible tragedy,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said earlier in the week. In addition to the visit, the president has called for an investigation of the collapse, Psaki said. She added Biden wants “to play any constructive role we can play with federal resources in getting to the bottom of it and preventing it from happening in the future.” Biden last

Johnson & Johnson vaccine may protect against delta variant; Michigan to announce vaccine lottery: Live COVID-19 updates

A top U.S. official suggested Wednesday that people who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine likely are protected against the delta variant.

U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy told CNBC that data shows the Oxford-AstraZeneca shot — a “cousin” of the J&J — is highly effective against the variant first identified in India and currently surging across the nation.

“While we are still awaiting direct studies of Johnson & Johnson and the delta variant, we have reasons to be hopeful, because the J&J vaccine has proven to be quite effective against preventing hospitalizations and deaths, with all the variants that we’ve seen to date,” Murthy said.

Murthy’s comments come as other companies like Moderna announced that their

Following a deadly shooting at a northern California light rail yard in May, city council members have unanimously approved a law that requires gun owners to carry liability insurance.

The law, the first of its kind in the nation, requires San Jose gun owners pay a fee to cover taxpayers’ costs associated with gun violence. It was passed Tuesday, reported the San Francisco Chronicle, and confirmed by San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo

“We won’t magically end gun violence, but we will stop paying for it,” Liccardo said in a statement. “We can also better care for its victims, and reduce gun-related injuries and death through sensible interventions.”

The Suns held a 97-83 lead entering the fourth quarter after Paul scored eight unanswered points to counter the Clippers’ previous 10-0 run. He then

Judge denies Britney Spears' request to remove father from conservatorship, for now

A week after Britney Spears spoke out in court and condemned her conservatorship, managed by her father James “Jamie” Spears, a judge has denied the singer’s request to have him removed as conservator — for now.

According to court documents filed by Britney Spears’ attorney, Samuel Ingham III Wednesday, obtained by USA TODAY, a judge denied the singer’s request to remove her father as sole conservator. However, Wednesday’s court filings were mainly intended for judge Brenda J. Penny to approve Bessemer Trust as Britney Spears’ co-conservator.

“The conservatee’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice,”

Fired Fox News host Ed Henry sues network, CEO for defamation over sexual misconduct allegation

Ed Henry, who was fired last July by Fox News Channel over a sexual misconduct allegation, sued the network Wednesday and its CEO, Suzanne Scott, for defamation.

Filed in U.S. District Court in Newark, New Jersey, Henry’s lawsuit seeks punitive damages and states the network’s CEO “sandbagged” him with a July 1, 2020, statement saying a former employee had accused Henry of sexual misconduct a week earlier and he was being fired after the findings of an external investigation.

Henry, who co-anchored “America’s Newsroom” at the time of his dismissal, says the misconduct allegations are false.

The lawsuit by Henry says Scott’s statement lent “credence to the false allegations because she was trying to save her own career and burnish her
