A tropical depression is moving toward Georgia and South Carolina, may make landfall late Monday

A newly formed tropical depression could make landfall later Monday near the Georgia-South Carolina border, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds with dangerous rip currents are forecast for southeast Georgia. Some showers could arrive throughout the day Monday ahead of the depression’s center.

“Gusty winds are possible with this storm, but the main threat to land will be any persistent downpours where flash flooding is possible, especially in any low-lying and poor drainage areas,” AccuWeather meteorologist Nicole LoBiondo said.

Rough surf and stronger-than-normal rip currents are likely along the Southeast coast as this system churns up the ocean.

SEOUL, South Korea – Heartbroken North Koreans have been worrying tearfully about leader Kim Jong Un’s “emaciated looks,” state media quoted a local resident as saying in a rare acknowledgement of foreign speculation about his weight loss.

The comments were seen as an effort to boost domestic support for Kim’s efforts as he grapples with deepening economic hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, mismanagement, U.N. economic sanctions and natural disasters, some experts said.

“Our people’s hearts ached most when we saw (Kim’s) emaciated looks,” North Korean state TV cited an unidentified male resident wearing a straw hat as saying on Friday. “Everyone says their tears are welling up in their eyes naturally.”

The rapper showed off her baby bump while performing at the BET Awards Sunday with husband Offset and group Migos. Cardi B joined the trio on the stage wearing a black glittery bodysuit, which featured a sheer panel that exposed her belly. 

Following the performance, Cardi B took to Instagram to share a revealing photo of her baby bump, covered in white paint, and tagged Offset. “#2,” she captioned the post.

U.S. military airstrikes target militias backed by Iran in Syria, Iraq

WASHINGTON – The U.S. military launched airstrikes against Iranian-backed militias in Syria in retaliation for drone attacks, the Pentagon announced Sunday evening.

The strikes targeted sites that been used to launch drone attacks on U.S. personnel and facilities in Iraq, Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said in a statement.

“Specifically, the U.S. strikes targeted operational and weapons storage facilities at two locations in Syria and one location in Iraq, both of which lie close to the border between those countries,” Kirby said. “Several Iran-backed militia groups, including Kata’ib Hezbollah and Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, used these facilities.”

U.S. F-15 and F-16 warplanes carried out the airstrikes, targeting three facilities that had been used

Outfield collisions are one of the scariest situations in baseball, at any level. A play involving Cleveland outfielder Josh Naylor and second baseman Ernie Clement confirmed that truth Sunday, and left Naylor in serious pain.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Jorge Polanco of the Minnesota Twins lifted a check-swing blooper into shallow right field. Clement raced out while looking up, as Naylor noticed right as they were about to collide and attempted to move out of the way.
