'We'll remember': Biden signs law designating Pulse nightclub site a national memorial

WASHINGTON – A nightclub that was the site of a horrific shooting in Florida became a national memorial Friday.

President Joe Biden signed a law designating the Pulse nightclub in Orlando as a national memorial at a White House ceremony that included survivors of the 2016 attack.

“A place of acceptance and joy became a place of unspeakable pain and loss. We’ll never fully recover, but we’ll remember,” Biden said before signing the law designating the memorial. Pulse survivors stood around the president as pictures of the 49 killed displayed on video screens.

“May no president ever have to sign another monument like this,” Biden said.

The Mysterious Benedict Society review – a fun Wes Anderson-lite romp

The new series The Mysterious Benedict Society (Disney+) is based – and fairly strictly so – on Trenton Lee Stewart’s fizzingly intelligent and fun 2007 book (and beginning what became a consistently charming and rewarding five-volume series) of the same name.

It is a tale of four gifted orphans – Reynie Muldoon (a borderline genius at everything), George “Sticky” (because of his eidetic memory – everything “sticks” in his mind) Washington, Kate Wetherall (and her bucket of tools that her ever-practical mind can use to improvise a host of inventions and emergency solutions) and tiny Constance Contraire (who … well, of whom more later). They are recruited, via a newspaper
