British Columbia’s startup community will come together in Vancouver next month as BC Founders Day returns for its third year.
Taking place August 20th at South Flats, a new outdoor venue beside Emily Carr University, the day-long gathering will connect emerging entrepreneurs with some of the province’s most accomplished founders, investors, and mentors.
Organized by four-time founder-turned-venture capitalist Chris Neumann, this year’s event is built around the theme “What does excellence look like?”
The program begins with founder-focused master classes featuring Moment Energy cofounder Edward Chiang and Soma Energy cofounder Ath Caramanolis. A session examining the venture capital perspective will bring together Fika Ventures’ TX Zhuo, Category Ventures’ Villi Iltchev, Toba Capital partner Susan Su, and N49P founding general partner Alex Norman.
Following the morning sessions, verified founders will have an opportunity to speak directly with more than 50 experienced entrepreneurs during the event’s signature office hours. Participating mentors will again wear brightly coloured Hawaiian leis, making them easy to identify and approach with questions about fundraising, hiring, product development, and other startup challenges.
The afternoon program will feature fireside conversations with two founders responsible for building prominent Canadian technology companies: Clio CEO Jack Newton and KOHO CEO Daniel Eberhard.
Another panel will tackle a perennial question for local entrepreneurs: whether to build their companies in British Columbia or move to Silicon Valley.
The debate will feature Unblocked founder Dennis Pilarinos, IcePanel cofounder Jacob Shadbolt, Trulioo cofounder Tanis Jorge, Revyl cofounder Landseer Enga, and Squire AI cofounder Brandon Waselnuk.
More than 50 founders and ecosystem leaders are expected to participate throughout the day, including Allen Pike, Alexandra Greenhill, Andrew Fursman, Andrew Harries, Bill Tam, Darrell Kopke, Gary Agnew, Irene Dorsman, Josh Nilson, Karm Sumal, Kris Hartvigsen, Nejeed Kassam, Ray Walia, and William Johnson.
The move to South Flats follows two years at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Along with the outdoor setting, the 2026 edition will include food trucks and an onsite networking event running from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The morning master classes and office hours are reserved for verified technology and product startup founders. Investors, service providers, ecosystem supporters, and students can join the afternoon talks and networking event beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Early-bird tickets start at $25, with prices scheduled to increase on August 1st.
