Sendle reborn after logistics company buys brand from liquidators

Must Read

Andrew McKenna, managing director of logistics business McKenna Worldwide Services and general manager, ANZ for Quantium Solutions, has acquired the Sendle brand, trademarks, and domain name.

The deal’s value was not disclosed.

The purchase, revealed at the Online Retailer Conference & Expo in Sydney, revives a brand left on life support after its high-profile liquidation.

McKenna said the response from former Sendle customers and suppliers “has been extraordinary.”

“It’s a clear signal that the market wants reliable, affordable shipping back in place for small business, and we’re committed to delivering that as we rebuild Sendle for the future,” he added.

The company was founded in 2014 by Sean Geoghegan, Craig Davis, and former CSIRO executive James Chin Moody.

It acted as a middleman between small businesses and major delivery networks like Aramex and Couriers Please.

Sendle positioned itself as a competitor to Australia Post, boasting lower delivery costs and carbon-neutral options.

It raised more than $100 million from investors before a three-way merger with US businesses FirstMile and ACI Logistix in 2025.

At the time, Chin Moody said the move would help Sendle, and the resulting FAST Group parent company, “offer even more support” to small businesses.

But shortly after major Sendle investor Federation Asset Management questioned ACI Logistix’s finances, Sendle abruptly ceased operations in January this year.

The move left thousands of businesses which had scheduled parcel pick-ups with just hours to find alternative solutions.

Sendle Pty Ltd officially fell into liquidation in February, with Shaun Fraser and Jason Preston of McGrathNicol appointed as liquidators.

While the purchase includes key intellectual property, McKenna did not acquire Sendle Pty Ltd itself, nor its exposure to debts related to its collapse.

The new-look Sendle will operate alongside Quantium Solutions, with the former serving as the customer-facing business, and the latter handling inbound and outbound global deliveries.

McKenna’s take on Sendle is expected to be up and running by September.
