School is starting, apples are ripening, and the days are getting ever-so-slightly shorter, but it’s technically still summer until September 22. That means you have almost the whole month to soak up those precious last golden hours of the season at outdoor festivals, ease into fall with exciting performances and book releases, and simply enjoy Seattle’s endless array of happenings. As we do every month, we’ve compiled the biggest events you need to know about in every genre, from The Kehlani World Tour to Weezer and from the 29th Annual Local Sightings Film Festival to The Stranger’s 2026 Genius Awards.
COMEDY
Hannibal Buress
My affinity for Hannibal Buress stems back to the Eric Andre Show, where he gifted the world with ridiculous quotes like “Morpheus drinking a 40 in a death basket” and, one of my favorites, “Y’all spin around like ballers, seething with jealousy I am.” But Buress is just as funny (if not more so) on stage. Throughout his storied career, the Chicago native has released side-splitting specials like Animal Furnace, Comedy Camisado, and Miami Nights, written for SNL and 30 Rock, and popped up in cameos all over the place, from Broad City to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Even outside the comedy circuit, he’s just as prolific in music, releasing ridiculous (and surprisingly catchy) tunes under the rap moniker Eshu Tune. If you’re into weird, dry, unpredictable humor, his stand-up show is a must-see. LANGSTON THOMAS
