King County prosecutors have charged Josue Orozco, 27, of Seattle, with one count of second-degree rape, one count of third-degree rape and two counts of unlawful imprisonment for allegedly assaulting two teenage girls, ages 17 and 15, from Olympia at a Renton home in unincorporated King County.
Moises Guardela-Marrugo, 19, whose last address was listed as Kent, faces a charge of second-degree attempted rape for his alleged participation in the mid-August incident, according to charging papers filed Sept. 8 in King County Superior Court.
On Aug. 13, one of the girls was in contact with Guardela-Marrugo, who she had prior contact with, and agreed to meet up with him under the hopes that he could obtain alcohol or marijuana for her, according to charging documents. The second girl also came along to meet the Kent man and Orozco at a church property in Olympia.
The men invited the girls into their van and told them they were going to Seattle. One of the girls protested, but reportedly was subsequently plied with alcohol by the two men. They drove to what Orozco said was his home near the city of Renton in unincorporated King County.
Orozco allegedly locked one of the girls in his bedroom and raped her. He then reportedly locked the other girl in the same room and raped her.
The men then left with the girls in the van and released them near a grocery store in Kent, where the girls went inside to use the bathroom and when they returned to the parking lot the men had left. An unknown bystander drove the two girls home to Olympia.
On Aug. 14, the father of one of the girls called the King County Sheriff’s Office to report his daughter had been raped the previous evening at a home near Renton, according to charging papers.
A deputy collected digital evidence, including screenshots of a conversation between one of the men and one of the girls arranging to meet. A detective later collected video from the church parking lot where they met that showed a van with two men and two girls inside. One of the men fit the description the girls had given to police.
The van then reportedly stopped at a convenience store in Olympia where the men bought liquor, which they let the girls drink. The van headed on Interstate 5 toward Seattle and stopped at a Subway store near Kent and then at a trailer park where Orozco picked up his white Corvette. He took one of the girls to the home near Renton and Guardela-Marrugo drove the other girl.
After the attack at the home, they all returned to the van and the girls were dropped off in Kent.
Detectives used information from the girls and spotted a white Corvette and gold van while looking for the two men to eventually set up an arrest Sept. 2 of Orozco outside his Corvette at a parking lot in Kent. Deputies also tracked down Guardela-Marrugo near his apartment in Auburn and took him into custody.
During an interview with detectives, Orozco reportedly admitted picking up the girls and buying alcohol but denied any sexual contact with them. He claimed the girls were making that up about being raped. He later allegedly tried to bribe a deputy to let him go.
Orozco remained Sept. 10 in the King County Correcitonal Facility in Seattle with bail set at $500,000, according to jail records. Guardela-Marrugo remained in the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent with bail set at $200,000. Both men were scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 10.
