Must Read

Summer may be winding down, but Seattle events certainly aren’t. Keep the seasonal shenanigans going this weekend with a live spin on a KEXP staple, Audiosis, some pastoral partying at Farm Fest, a glow-stick-fueled voyage at the Seattle Paddle Rave, and a neighborhood-wide creative crawl at the West Seattle Art Tour. SECS Fest Presents The Raspberry Reich
SECS Fest isn’t simply one big, sexy blowout. The Seattle Erotica Cinema Society keeps the good times rolling year-round with screenings of provocative films like Bruce LaBruce’s The Raspberry Reich: a 2004 satire that’s part terrorist thriller, part queer manifesto, and part, well…porn. The plot follows a group of left-wing German radicals who kidnap a wealthy industrialist’s son in hopes of emulating the Red Army Faction, only for their leader to decide that true dedication to the revolution also requires giving up heterosexuality. As one Letterboxd reviewer put it: “This is what conservatives imagine when they say ‘the gay agenda.’” Sounds like a hell of a movie night to me. LT
