Getting your Trinity Audio player ready… |
The Gateway Concert Band recently announced its free holiday concert showings.
The local music group plays two winter shows every year right before the Christmas holiday — this year’s shows are Dec. 6 at Thunder Mountain Middle School (Enumclaw), starting at 2 p.m., and Dec. 7 at the Enumclaw High School Theater, starting at 7:15 p.m.
Gateway Concert Band Concert Coordinator Susan Evans said the concert will feature a striking rendition of music from The Polar Express, bringing the magic of this beloved holiday movie to life and taking center stage in our musical celebration.
“You’ll hear familiar Christmas favorites, including I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and The First Noel, along with other seasonal favorites,” she said in a press release. “We’ll also explore some less familiar holiday gems, including Midnight Sleighride and March of the Toys. Get ready for a jazzy twist on Christmas music with Swinging Halls at Christmas Time!”
This concert’s featured vocalist will be clarinetist Oliv Yanak, who will “perform a sweet and memorable solo that is sure to be a special highlight of the concert.”
Both concert venues are ADA accessible, and large-print programs will be available.
The Gateway Concert Band is a nonprofit charitable organization.
The concerts are free, but $10 donations are always welcome.
