Big Beanie Baby

Must Read

To the West Seattle dad in the beanie and SUV who laid on the horn (and I mean LAID ON THE HORN, in an extended fashion) at me in the roundabout:

A couple things: First, are you okay?? That was pretty intense, bud. Second, roundabouts are great. They’re safer and more efficient than stop signs, as they keep the flow of cars moving. You might recall, when I approached from the south, and you approached from the west maybe just a split second after, we were both able to navigate the roundabout safely AT THE SAME TIME. Neat right? The only cause for delay to yourself or anyone behind you was due to you slowing to a near stop to gesture and yell at me as you also laid on the horn. I was already out of the roundabout by that point, but I could tell from the faces of the bewildered pedestrians that it was quite a show.

On the upside, I had just finished telling my 5-year-old what a good job he’s been doing at identifying and working through his big emotions, and this provided an almost instant real-world example that even some grown-ups can’t handle big feelings.

Relax, bud!
