Forest Grove murder victims identified, suspect was boyfriend

Must Read

The five victims killed last weekend in Oregon have been identified, a day after a suspect died by suicide in Enumclaw.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims today, Aug. 24, as Mary Elizabeth Kimsey, 85, of Portland; Rowan Karla Kimsey, 60, of Forest Grove; Stella Jade Kimsey, 26, of Forest Grove; Linsey Mae Haraldsen, 26, of Portland; and Alvin Raymond Chu, 27, of Portland.

Mary Kimsey was Rowan Kimsey’s mother and Stella Kimsey’s grandmother, according to the sheriff’s office. Haraldsen was Stella Kimsey’s best friend, and Chu was Haraldsen’s partner.

Officials also said the suspected killer, 36-year-old Benjamin Charles Parker, was the boyfriend of Stella Kimsey.

The bodies of the victims, as well as two cats and two dogs, were found at Rowan Kimsey’s home after dispatch received a call about a vehicle fire.

A third cat was found injured and was taken to a vet; it was later euthanized due to its injuries.

No information has been released about why Parker traveled more than 180 miles north to Enumclaw, or details about the exact cause of deaths and a possible motive.

The Enumclaw Police Department received a call about a gunshot behind the local Safeway around 2 p.m. on Aug. 23.

The King County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol also responded.

Nearby resident Noah Moses said he heard the shot.

“[I] didn’t see it go down, but looked through the window after I heard that sound, and [officers] all approached, slowly but surely after a while, and they had drones out,” he said.

Washington County Sheriff Caprice Massey said the investigation is unlike anything she has encountered during her more than two decades with the agency.

“In my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex,” Massey said.

Forest Grove News-Times reporter Nick LaMora contributed to this report.
