On the (bejeweled six-inch platform) heels of my recent roundup of live Rocky Horror screenings in honor of Tim Curry, the Vicarious Theatre Company, a Rocky Horror shadowcast that performs at the downtown Regal Meridian 16 on the first Saturday of every month, got back to me with an update that was too good to not share.
For their upcoming screening at 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, the group will modify some of their usual cast callbacks (lines shouted in response to the onscreen dialogue) in order to pay homage to Curry. Fun. But the real tribute, the event you must go to, is Saturday, October 3.
Usually, Vicarious’s October show is a Halloween-themed event, where all of the cast members dress up as zombies or in Halloween costumes they think their Rocky Horror characters would wear. However, this year’s show will be a madcap “Oops! All Tim” edition of Curry’s many, many characters. Confirmed roles include Pennywise the Clown (It, the two-part ABC miniseries) and Nigel Thornberry (The Wild Thornberrys). I’m hoping to see Wadsworth the butler from Clue and the sleazy Rooster Hannigan from Annie. I think Curry would’ve thought this was just smashing.
