King County Elections posts final LD 41 primary results

The 41st Legislative District candidates were the top two vote-getters in the Aug. 4 primary for the state representative Position No. 1 race, according to the final results posted by King County Elections (KCE) on Aug. 18.

The 41st Legislative District covers the entirety of Mercer Island and Newcastle, with portions of Bellevue, Renton, Issaquah and Sammamish.

Bellevue’s Zahn (D), the current seatholder, amassed 72.04% (26,578 votes), Mercer Island’s Nguyen (R) notched 26.76% (9,871 votes) and Bellevue’s Alex Tsimerman (Standup-America Party) grabbed 1.04% (385 votes).

In the LD 41 State Representative No. 2 position realm, current seatholder My-Linh Thai of Seattle (D) and Michael Rosen of Mercer Island (Independent) will face off in the general election. Although a primary wasn’t required for that seat, the voting listed on the KCE site showed Thai with 66.32% (24,035 votes) and Rosen with 33.40% (12,106 votes).

Mercer Island police chief Michelle Bennett (R) participated in the primary for the Legislative District No. 5, State Representative Position No. 1 position and is headed to the general election as one of the top two vote-getters.

Final results show that Zach Hall (D) had 44.53% (18,294 votes), Bennett had 43.04% (17,681 votes), Aimee Warmerdam (D) had 9.72% (3,994 votes) and Topher Leritz (No party preference) had 2.64% (1,083 votes).
