Maya Hawke: Maitreya Corso Tour
The Triple Door, Seattle, WA
4.16.26
It was a mere matter of seconds, after Maya Hawke took the stage at Seattle’s Triple Door, that an audience member shouted out, “I love Stranger Things!” While no doubt well-meaning, it’s inevitable that statements like this unintentionally pigeonhole Maya into the role of “Rockin Robin” whom she played wonderfully on the cultural behemoth Stranger Things. Perhaps that shadow, and that of being the daughter of stars Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, will forever remain. And honestly, it probably doesn’t matter, because her sold out performance on the Seattle stop of her Maitreya Corso Tour showed that Maya is a star in the music world in her own right, singular and shining oh so bright.
The Triple Door proved the perfect venue to take in Maya’s intimate acoustic show on a sublime Seattle spring evening. Flanked on stage by her husband, Christian Lee Jutson on guitar and vocals, and violinist Odessa Jorgensen, Maya’s set on this tour served as an introduction to her forthcoming album, “Maitreya Corso.” The soft acoustics, gentle vocals, and confessional lyrics would slot in perfectly in a mixtape of Phoebe Bridgers, She & Him, and Lucius. “Devil You Know”, sure to be a single from the album, provided just the right amount of toe-tapping, catchy electric vocals to infuse extra energy in the crowd. A highlight of different energy was certainly the blissful harmonies of “Bring Home My Man.”
Between other standout tracks like “Heavy Rain” and “Last Living Cause”, a lot of the charm from Maya’s concert was the ease with which she interacted with the audience. It was genuine and authentic in a way that’s almost impossible to teach, and no doubt deepened the foundation of appreciation her fans have for her, while simultaneously adding another layer of talent to the multidisciplinary artist.
Maya Hawke is Maya Hawke.
