People walked up and down the outdoor parking lots to peer closely at the more than 300 vehicles displayed during the second annual Hot Rod & Custom Car Show Labor Day weekend at Muckleshoot Casino Resort in Auburn.
Ford Mustangs, Dodge Chargers and many other vehicles covered the parking area Sept. 6-7. With the main casino entrance blocked off for the two-day event, traffic backed up along Auburn Way South.
But once people found a parking spot in the garage or an outdoor lot not filled with displayed vehicles, they had plenty to look at at the free event.
Muckleshoot Casino Resort already has announced a third annual car show during Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend in 2027.
This year, the resort event featured comedian Jay Leno at its Events Center for a ticketed Sunday evening performance. Leno has a collection of nearly 200 vehicles in Burbank, California.
The car show offered more than 230 awards and $4,000 in cash prizes. Sixty-five of those 230 awards were judged class awards. The awards include categories such as Coveted Best of Show (with a $1,500 prize), Best of Show Casino Pick (with a $1,000 prize) and Best of Show Car ($250 prize). There was even a Jay Leno Pick Winner.
The car show had an entry fee of $45 for the vehicles. It ran from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
In addition to the many vehicles, the show featured vendors, food and a beer garden.
It also offered entertainment each day, including an Elvis impersonator competition on Sunday and a Pepsi Pinup Contest vintage calendar competition on Monday. The winner of the Elvis competition received a cash prize of $2,000. The Pinup Contest winner received $1,500.
The show opened Sunday with 10 skydivers dressed as Elvis.
