One person is dead after a reported explosion potentially sparked a massive fire in Lake Stevens.
Just before 7:30 p.m. Friday evening, several people called 911 reporting an explosion and a big column of black smoke at a home on 109th N.E., just north of Highway 92.
When fire crews from Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue and Snohomish County Fire District #4 arrived at the scene, they found a two-story house engulfed in flames. Firefighters said they could see a smoke column from several miles away.
Someone at the scene told first responders they believed someone might still be inside the home. Fire officials said the flames were so intense that there was no space inside where anyone could have survived.
