Dalaine // Izzy Burns
If you’re eager for fall, I recommend cozying up with a cup of hot chocolate and some folk tunes this Friday at bean-to-bar chocolate shop and venue Cocoa Legato. Local musician Dalaine, whose 2023 NPR Tiny Desk entry was highlighted as one of its “Entries We Love,” charms audiences with songs at the intersection of folk, jazz, and soft rock. Dalaine is joined by Idaho-based singer-songwriter Izzy Burns, who went from being born with no voice—and undergoing a tracheostomy—to making uplifting pop-folk songs that sound like diary entries. I’m hoping we’ll get some stripped-down acoustic covers of indie rock songs like this one of The Strokes’ “The Adults Are Talking” that Burns posted on social media earlier this summer. SL
