NEW YORK – Brooklyn borough President Eric Adams, a former police captain, had his lead narrow Tuesday in the New York City mayor’s race after the first calculation of ranked choice votes was released.
But doubts around partial results were raised after the city’s Board of Elections acknowledged a “discrepancy” in the elimination round tallies, which later appeared not to be accessible on its website.
The partial results showed Adams narrowly edging out Kathryn Garcia in the last of 11 elimination rounds, but a complete and certified vote tally had yet to be released, and there were tens of thousands of mail-in votes to be counted.
