Savanah Leaf’s “Earth Mama” will open the 52nd edition of New Directors/New Films (ND/NF). Jointly presented by the Museum of Modern Art and Film at Lincoln Center, the fest will take place March 29-April 9.
“Earth Mama” marks Leaf’s feature debut. Described as a “devastating and evocative portrait of motherhood refracted through the prisms of race and class,” the coming-of-age pic tells the story of a pregnant single mom in the Bay Area.
Other titles set to screen include Manuela Martelli’s “Chile ’76,” the story of a woman asked to help care for a young man her local priest is providing shelter to, and Tia Kouvo’s “Family Time,” a comedy
