This is our take on Salvatore Calabrese’s now classic creation. Sure, a breakfast (or brunch) cocktail isn’t an everyday thing, but it does help take the edge off when things all get a bit much, and every now and then won’t hurt.
Breakfast martini
Serves 1
1 tsp good-quality marmalade – we use Durslade Farm Shop’s clementine and gin marmalade
25ml lemon juice
20ml Cointreau
50ml London dry gin – we use Tanqueray
1 orange twist, to garnish
Put the marmalade, lemon juice, Cointreau and gin in a cocktail shaker, add a big handful of ice and shake hard. Double strain into a chilled coupette, or similar, garnish with the orange twist and serve.
