What could possibly go wrong?
Hello, and welcome to another game at Yankee Stadium: The Original Stadium for Ants. If you think Marco had a tough time in the tiny, training-wheels-esque ballpark that the Yankees play in, just wait for tonight, when Félix Hernández takes the hill. I love Félix, but I don’t know that this matchup or ballpark exactly plays to his strengths…
FiveThirtyEight gives the Mariners a 40% chance of winning this game, which honestly feels somewhat generous. Maybe I’m severely underselling Félix. New York will be running out a righty tonight, however, which means that the Mariners will be playing both Denard Span and Ben Gamel in the outfield, shifting Mitch Haniger into center field. This is all to say that Félix could be… better set up for success.
James Paxton is pitching tomorrow, so if the Mariners can win this one, they have a shot to take the series. That’s a pretty big “if”, though.
