Driving toward Seattle on the SR 520 Monday morning, some drivers may have saw a white ball of fur running toward them on the right shoulder.
It wasn’t their imagination. A small white dog was indeed trotting against rush hour traffic and managed to trek the entire length of 1.4-mile bridge as cars darted by.
If you were worried for the daring pup’s well-being, don’t be. The dog was reclaimed by its owners this morning from the Seattle Animal Shelter—shaken but unscathed.
Several news outlets reported the scene as early as 6:57 a.m. when the Department of Transportation tweeted out camera footage of the dog’s run.
The Washington State Department of Transportation and other kind commuters were on the scene moments later to get the pup to safety…at least from traffic.
Despite the combined efforts, corralling the pup proved to be a challenged in itself. The was quick, and growled and snapped at pursuing officers.
The dog eluded danger just fine, and escaped to a nearby bush in Montlake Boulevard.
Details on the pup’s location were unclear for a bit until it was reported by an on-site worker that the dog was taking refuge under the bridge. The pooch was netted up and taken to the animal shelter later that morning.
