At 3 a.m. on a Sunday morning in April 1919, two mounted watchman for the U.S. Border Patrol were patrolling a segment of the border near El Paso, Texas, when smugglers fatally shot one of them, Clarence M. Childress. He died on April 16 of that year, his memorial on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website states.
More than a century later, however, Childress is first in a list circulating on Facebook of border patrol agents who supposedly died during President Joe Biden’s administration.
