“What else are you going to do when you’re in Brussels with a bunch of writers guilds?!” Davidson tweeted along with photos and

Netflix is backing away from the live-in-New-York showcase it planned to hold for advertisers during the industry’s annual week of “upfront” presentations for advertisers, a move that threatens to put a damper on the company’s first big public attempt to woo advertisers to its service.

The streaming giant is scrapping the event it planned to hold at its own Paris Theater in New York, slated for May 17, and informed advertisers of the switch Wednesday evening. The decision was previously reported by Adweek.

Netflix’ decision takes place amid a massive writers strike that is likely to keep many of the actors, comedians and showrunners who might

Kaitlan Collins Expected to Anchor CNN’s 9PM Hour After Tangling With Trump

Kaitlan Collins spent Wednesday night going toe to toe on live TV with a former U.S. President who refused to acknowledge her fact-checking of his many conspiracy theories and untruths, then berated her and talked over her. An attending crowd hooted and cheered. And that just may be a warm up.

Collins, the CNN up-and-comer who has gone from White House correspondent to morning anchor all before turning 35, is widely expected to be given new anchoring duties at 9 p.m., according to two people familiar with the matter. The hour is one of the most competitive on the cable-news schedule and has served as a home

Time to Grow Up, Disney+ and Hulu: Content Cuts Coming as Part of Streaming’s ‘Maturation Process’

Disney is going on a diet — but Hulu is still on the menu.

Disney CEO Bob Iger and chief financial officer Christine McCarthy delivered a clear message on Wednesday to Wall Street and Hollywood during Disney’s quarterly earnings call. Disney will cut the overall volume of content produced for its streaming platforms — primarily Disney+ and Hulu — as it deals with a much tighter macroeconomic environment, not to mention the uncertain impact of the writers strike that began May 2.

After spending just under $30 billion on content in Disney’s 2022 fiscal year (which ends in September), Iger has targeted $3 billion in savings

Spain Tax Incentives Entice ‘House of the Dragon,’ ‘Vampire Academy’

0

Arguably, no other established Spanish film and TV industry has grown faster over the last decade than its service sector for international shoots. Some of the world’s most favorable tax incentives have helped propel business to historic heights.

Kicking off in 2015, tax regs rose muscularly during mid-pandemic in 2020. But in December, the Spanish government took it up another notch, establishing tax advantages for international productions of up to €20 million ($22.2 million) per movie and $11.1 million for a TV series episode. That increase went into effect Jan. 1.

With a special tax regime, the Canary Islands’ ceiling is $40.0 million for a film
